4,4,4,4! Yashasvi Jaiswal destroys Mitchell Starc in 1st over as pacer hits historic low


Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal clobbered Australian pacer Mitchell Starc in the second innings of the fifth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed four fours in the over when Mitchell Starc came to bowl the first over in India’s second innings in Sydney.

Debutant Beau Webster played a crucial role for Australia on Day 2 of the New Year’s Test. He smashed his maiden Test fifty, scoring 57 off 105 balls, which included five boundaries. Australia was bowled out for 181 in 51 overs, trailing India by four runs in the first innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made a spectacular start to India’s second innings. The young batter smashed four consecutive boundaries off Mitchell Starc in the opening over. Jaiswal expertly cut a short and wide delivery over the slip cordon for a boundary. He played two more cut shots for boundaries off the next two balls

Starc overcorrected with a full delivery wide of off-stump, and Jaiswal capitalized by driving it through extra cover for a fourth boundary. Jaiswal’s 16 runs off the first over is the most by an Indian batter in the first over of a Test innings. It was also Starc’s most expensive opening over in a Test at home in his career.
