Kanye West Filed ‘Wife By Husband’ Trademark Before Grammys

Bianca Censori may be making her way to bookshelves soon, as Kanye West’s company, Ox Paha Inc., recently filed a trademark application for the phrase “Wife by Husband.”

The filing comes just days before Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s headline-grabbing appearance at the 2025 Grammys.

According to documents reviewed by Page Six, the “Heartless” rapper submitted the application on January 24, a little over a week before the awards show. The trademark covers various print publications, including biographies, nonfiction, and picture books.

While the exact nature of “Wife by Husband” remains unclear, speculation is already circulating about whether it will provide insight into West’s relationship with Censori or serve as a broader creative endeavor.

West has previously dabbled in publishing, having played a role in conceptualizing and launching his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s 2015 coffee-table book, “Selfish,” which featured 448 pages of Kardashian’s selfies.

Meanwhile, West remained fully clothed, a look reportedly intended to mirror the aesthetic of his “Vultures 1” album cover. The stark contrast between their outfits has fueled ongoing conversations about West’s influence over Censori’s style and public image.

The revealing outfit prompted widespread debate on social media, with many questioning whether the ensemble, which West’s brand, Yeezy designed, was Censori’s choice.

Psychologist Channa Bromley shared insights with “TODAY,” explaining that clothing serves as a form of “self-expression, autonomy, and identity.”

Bromley suggested that Censori’s Grammys appearance could be seen as a “case study” of a partner exerting influence over another’s wardrobe choices. She explained that if the outfit was truly Censori’s decision, it would be characterized by “confidence, ease, and ownership of the moment.”

However, if it wasn’t, she said subtle indicators such as “micro-expressions of discomfort, hesitation, or forced compliance” could be observed.

“In controlling relationships, dress codes can serve as both a test of submission and a display of ownership. The more extreme the shift, the more likely it’s a symptom of something deeper than just evolving style,” Bromley added. She noted that the footage of Censori disrobing might seem “unsettling” due to the underlying psychological implications.

“The lack of natural confidence, the robotic compliance, the vacant expression, it doesn’t read as a woman fully in charge of her choices,” she observed.

Kanye West and Bianca Censori will not face any legal consequences or formal repercussions following their controversial appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

According to TMZ, neither the Recording Academy nor event organizers received complaints regarding Censori’s revealing outfit. Additionally, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that no grievances were filed. Despite the widespread online debate, no violations of the event’s dress code were reported.

While West had confirmed his attendance as a nominee, sources indicate that his wife’s attire took aback event officials. Adding to the controversy, Entertainment Tonight initially published, then deleted, a post claiming that West and Censori arrived uninvited with an entourage and were subsequently escorted out.

However, Variety later refuted the claim, confirming that the couple was indeed permitted to attend the event.

The controversy surrounding West and Censori’s appearance also extended to late-night television.

During his February 3 monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” host Jimmy Kimmel took aim at West, referencing Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap.

“Another rodent came out of his hole to hit the red carpet at the Grammys last night … none other than Kanye West, who showed up to take photos,” Kimmel remarked. “He showed up for the red carpet only with his wife, who caused quite a stir. She was wearing … nothing.”

“Remember when the whole country melted down when one of Janet Jackson’s boobs popped out for a millisecond?” he continued. “Now a completely nude woman walks the red carpet at the Grammys, they’re yelling, ‘Bianca, over here on the right! Please!”

The ongoing backlash and media scrutiny surrounding West and Censori’s appearance suggest that their controversial fashion choices will continue to spark debate long after the Grammys red carpet has been rolled away.
