The couple faced scrutiny again during the 2025 Golden Globes when comedian Nikki Glaser joked about Blanco’s physical appearance, leading to an eruption of laughter among the audience.

The latest unwanted attention is said to have angered Gomez, who is determined to defend her beau from such jokes.

An insider explained to Radar Online, “They’re constantly ridiculed as this so-called ‘Beauty and the Beast’ couple and trolled by fans who ask what she sees in him and say things like, whatever it is, it can’t be his looks.”

The source explained further, “For Benny, it must be unnerving and imitating, especially when you consider all the flak he’s getting.”

They added, “Selena doesn’t understand why people don’t let it go. They deal with it all the time on social media, and they’re sick and tired of it.”

During the 2025 Golden Globes in January, Glaser targeted Gomez and Blanco’s engagement during her hilarious monologue.

The comedian teased several celebrities before picking out Gomez, who was nominated for “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Emilia Pérez.”
