They’re brothers and two of the NFL’s most prolific stars — but Jason and Travis Kelce once went “months” without speaking to one another.

In an interview with Bustle published on Wednesday, February 12, Jason, 37, revealed that he and his younger brother Travis, 35, have grown closer since launching their podcast, “New Heights,” in September 2022.

“The best part of the podcast is just getting to talk to Trav,” Jason told the outlet. “Before we started the podcast, we would go months sometimes without talking to each other. The podcast forces us once a week to sit down and talk to each other.”

Jason, who is renowned for being one of the greatest football centers ever after playing with the Philadelphia Eagles for 13 years, added that the brothers’ bond has also strengthened as a result. (The NFL star retired last year.)

“We both have a lot going on in our lives, and it’s been fun — after all these years being in different cities and fighting to make it in the football landscape — to rekindle the amount of times that we talk and the closeness that we have growing up our entire lives,” Jason explained.

The 2025 Super Bowl result, which saw Jason’s former team defeat Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on Sunday, February 9, sparked an emotional response from Jason. Taking to X on Tuesday, February 11, to break down the game’s outcome, Jason reflected on some raw emotions.

“That game was odd for me to watch if I’m being completely honest,” Jason shared via the social media platform. “I knew it was going to be mixed emotions before, during, and after, and I now know what my parents had to deal with two years ago. On one hand, I wanted what is best for my brother, and to see his success. And on the other hand, there are so many people, teammates, and coaches, in the Philadelphia Eagles organization that I care deeply about.”

Addressing his thoughts on Travis, who entered his 12th season with the Chiefs in 2024 after being drafted by the team in 2013, Jason got even more candid. “There isn’t a person I love or care about more,” Jason wrote of Travis in the post. “It has been tough to process these feelings, of course, I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity. He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.”

The post continued, “I know right now they are still thinking of last night and the shortcomings in the last game, But in time that will fade, and the greatness they have exhibited as a group will remain as one of the most dominant eras of football ever.”

Jason has also nurtured a strong friendship with Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, since Travis and Swift, 35, began dating in summer 2023. Jason praised the singer’s Eras Tour after attending a show during the London leg in June 2024. Opening up on an episode of “New Heights” at the time, he joked, “Dude, if I did what she did for one song, I would have to change my clothes.”

Jason also said on The Rich Eisen Show in November that year, “She’s been nothing but lovely to our family, she’s a wonderful person.”
