Moise Kean discharged from hospital and back in Florence

Fiorentina striker Moise Kean has been discharged from hospital and travelled back to Florence, the Serie A club said this morning.

Italy international Kean collapsed on the pitch during yesterday’s game at Hellas Verona and was taken off the field on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

The game continued with Verona securing a late 1-0 win over the Viola.

However, the visitors’ main concern surrounded the well-being of former Juventus and Everton striker Kean.

A statement this morning read: “ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Moise Kean was discharged from hospital in Verona overnight and has returned to Florence. Medical and diagnostic tests all produced negative results.”

But while the news was positive, it has prompted a fresh debate into player welfare.

Kean, the second top scorer in Serie A this season, was allowed to play on despite lengthy treatment after being accidentally kneed in the head by Verona’s Pawel Dawidowicz.

The 24-year-old collapsed moments later, prompting players from both sides to frantically call for medical assistance.

The incident took place in front of Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove, who suffered a cardiac arrest during his side’s game with Inter Milan in December.

According to reports in Italy, Bove had to turn away in distress when Kean fell to the turf.
