Zoë Kravitz Gives Update On ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3

The series, created by David E. Kelley and based on Liane Moriarty’s novel, follows a group of Southern California mothers as they navigate friendship, motherhood, and domestic violence. Since its premiere in 2017, “Big Little Lies” has garnered critical acclaim, winning multiple Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globes.

As fans eagerly await any updates regarding season three, Zoë Kravitz, who graces the latest cover of Elle, addressed the status of the HBO hit series, which last aired in 2019.

Kravitz revealed that the entire cast is eager to return. “Everyone wants to do it, and we’re like, ‘Call us and tell us when and where,’” she told Elle.

She even hinted that filming could begin as soon as this year, adding, “That would be amazing if that could happen this year. I would be over the moon.”

Although season three has been confirmed in limited detail, Kravitz admitted last summer that she knows little about what’s in store for her character, Bonnie Carlson. “I’m waiting to see, like everybody else, the third season that’s happening… waiting by the phone, waiting for the script to be done,” she told PEOPLE in August.

However, Kravitz does have her own hopes for Bonnie’s storyline. When asked where she envisions the character’s future, she didn’t hesitate. “I think Bonnie’s divorced. That’s good for her,” she quipped.

Initially conceived as a miniseries, “Big Little Lies” was extended into a second season after its massive success.

The first season alone earned 16 Primetime Emmy nominations, winning eight, including Outstanding Limited Series and acting wins for Kidman and Dern. The show also took home four Golden Globes, including Best Miniseries or Television Film.

Beyond the leading women, the series also features an ensemble cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, Jeffrey Nordling, Kathryn Newton, and Iain Armitage.

Zoë Kravitz isn’t the only “Big Little Lies” star speaking out about the highly anticipated third season. Last year, Reese Witherspoon fueled excitement among fans by hinting at new twists and deeper character developments in the upcoming installment of the hit HBO series.

While keeping major plot details under wraps, Witherspoon reassured fans that “Big Little Lies” Season 3 is still in the works and will continue to deliver the gripping drama that made the show a fan favorite. Witherspoon, who plays Madeline Mackenzie, and co-star Nicole Kidman, who portrays Celeste Wright, have both spoken about the show’s return, more than five years after Season 2 concluded.

“Nicole and I have been waiting. We’re in waiting for Liane Moriarty,” Witherspoon told E! News, referring to the author of the novel on which the series is based. “She’s going to be turning in something very soon. We’re back to the original author and we’re going to go back to the original characters.”

She went on to tease that the possibilities for “Big Little Lies” Season 3 are “exciting,” hinting that time will have passed for the Monterey Five, Madeline (Witherspoon), Celeste (Kidman), Jane Chapman (Shailene Woodley), Renata Klein (Laura Dern), and Bonnie Carlson (Zoë Kravitz).

Speculation about a third season first gained traction in November when Kidman revealed that she and her co-stars were eager to reunite. Now, with Moriarty working on new material and Witherspoon expressing enthusiasm for the project, anticipation is at an all-time high.

Aside from discussing “Big Little Lies,” Kravitz also opened up about her recent breakup with ex-fiancé Channing Tatum. The two met while working on her directorial debut, “Blink Twice,” which premiered last summer. Though they amicably ended their engagement weeks later, Kravitz still speaks fondly of both Tatum and their collaboration.

“I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much,” she said. “Even when you bring up how great his performance is, it warms my heart to hear that, and I’m so happy that all of it happened. I just feel so grateful that we got to go on that journey together.”

With “Big Little Lies” season three on the horizon and a thriving career in both acting and directing, Kravitz continues to be one of Hollywood’s most dynamic talents.
