The Ranji Trophy final between Vidarbha and Kerala has taken an interesting turn after Kerala’s resilient bowling display on Day 2 of the encounter between the two sides. A key highlight of the proceedings of the day so far is the heroics of Kerala’s emphatic batter Rohan Kunnammal whose emphatic catch to dismiss Akshay Karnewal has become a major talking point in India’s domestic cricket circuit.
Rohan Kunnummal plucks a screamer to mark the end of Akshay Karnewal’s innings
The incident occurred during the 110th over of the Vidarbha innings as Akshay Karnewal and Akshay Wadkar were on the crease for Vidarbha. An incoming delivery from off-spinner Jalaj Saxena was struck with power towards the cover area by Karnewal. However, the ball went in the air towards Rohan who dived on his right to take a brilliant one-handed catch and sent him back to the pavilion on just 12 runs.
This is not the first time Rohan has showcased his brilliance on the field on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final. Before that, Rohan also took the catch of Yash Rathod in the first slip and marked the end of his innings.

Vidarbha post a competitive 1st innings total
The clash between Vidarbha and Kerala in the Ranji Trophy final has entered into an interesting phase as Vidarbha carved out a total of 379 innings in their 1st innings. The marquee batter for Vidarbha was Danish Malewar whose 153-run knock off 285 balls stabilized his team’s innings and helped them reach a respectable total.
For Kerala, M.D. Nidheesh and Eden Apple Tom struck early and clinched 3 wickets each to put their team in front.
