Here’s Why Atlanta Police Are Linking Lil Baby To A 2024 Shooting
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, Atlanta Police Department’s Major Ralph Woolfolk held a press conference, announcing the arrests of seven individuals linked to the July 2024 murders of 13-year-olds Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman. The teens were ambushed at Freeman’s birthday party. WSBTV notes that Jakody’s 11-year-old brother also suffered critical injuries in the shooting but survived.
Major Woolfolk stated that the teens’ murders stemmed from a gang war allegedly linked to the triple shooting on Lil Baby’s music video last May. According to Billboard, police linked multiple shootings and homicides in the following months to that incident. Additionally, investigators revealed that a supposed “high-ranking” member of a rival gang allegedly used a cell phone from inside a Georgia prison to order the hit on the teens.
“Gang violence that was orchestrated by adults. And the cowardly acts of an Atlanta-based rapper that decided to go into a rival gang stronghold in a place he knew he should not have been.” Woolfolk later confirmed the Atlanta rapper referenced was Lil Baby.
At the press conference, Major Woolfolk emphasized their commitment to holding everyone involved accountable and reportedly directed his remarks to Lil Baby. He also announced a $50,000 reward for anyone with additional information. At this time, Lil Baby has not addressed the officer’s allegations against him.
