Star India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had the worst possible start in the Adelaide Test when he was dismissed for a golden duck by Mitchell Starc. Jaiswal, who was taking strike to the first ball of the match, had no clue to a brilliant full and swinging delivery from Starc.
Starc bowled a full ball on leg stump which swung in towards Jaiswal’s off stump. The batter went across and missed an attempted flick towards the leg side and was hit right on the pad in front of leg stump.
After a brief appeal, the umpire gave it out. Yashasvi Jaiswal was trapped right in front of the stumps and was dismissed for a first-ball duck. He consulted with his opening partner KL Rahul about the DRS but eventually decided to walk off.

It was a cracking delivery from Mitchell Starc first up as Yashasvi Jaiswal had no clue about the ball. The left-hander played all around it and was eventually dismissed.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hot-and-cold Australia tour
Jaiswal has now scored two ducks and one hundred in his first three Test innings on Australian soil. He was out on a duck in the first innings of the Perth Test but came back with a magificent century in the second innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 161 off 297 balls in the second innings and struck 15 fours and 3 sixes during his memorable knock. His knock propelled India to a solid second innings total which pave the way for a cracking win over the hosts.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has previously showed his strengths by playing long innings in his short Test career so far. His wicket was a huge one considering Australia are already 0-1 down in the series.
Rivalry between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mitchell Starc
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mitchell Starc were involved in a war of words in the previous match as well. During the second innings of Perth Test, Jaiswal defended a length ball from Starc and immediately yelled at the fast bowler saying, “It’s coming too slow”, taking a dig at Starc’s pace.
Jaiswal played some eye-catching shots of Starc which also involved a thunderous flick shot over the leg side for boundary. Starc later revealed that he tried to provoke Jaiswal to play another aggressive shot but received a wry smile from the opener in response.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first in the only day-night Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Men in Blue made three changes to their Playing XI.
Skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin came back into the XI in place of Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Washington Sundar. Regular opener Rohit Sharma has decided to bat in the middle order to accomodate KL Rahul at the top.
