Mike Tyson Suffered A Health Setback In June
Tyson and Paul’s fight was initially scheduled for July 20, but the boxing legend experienced a severe medical emergency in June, which caused the match to be postponed.
“Coming here from Miami on the plane, I went to the bathroom, and I threw up blood. Next thing I know, I’m on the floor, and I was defecating tar,” Tyson said in the Netflix documentary, “Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson,” adding, “So I came (to the hospital), they said I had a big ulcer, two and a half inches, it was bleeding. All my friends were calling me like I’m dying.”
“A week and a half ago, I was training, and I was doing great, and then all of a sudden, I started feeling tired,” Tyson said in the documentary about how he was feeling before the flight. “And I was explaining to my trainer, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
Tyson, however, powered through his health challenge and assured his fans that he was “ready to fight.”
“I’ve said everything I had to say. There’s nothing else to say. I’m just looking forward to fighting,” Tyson said. “I’m not going to lose.”
