‘The View’ Co-Host Sunny Hostin’s Husband Emmanuel Accused of Fraud In A Lawsuit!
Emmanuel Hostin, the husband of The View co-host Sunny Hostin, is facing serious allegations in a new federal lawsuit. The orthopedic surgeon has been accused of federal insurance fraud as part of one of the largest racketeer-influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) cases ever filed in New York.
According to the lawsuit, Emmanuel Hostin, listed as “Emmanuel Hostin, M.D.,” is among 200 defendants accused of engaging in fraudulent practices by accepting kickbacks for performing surgeries and billing a company that insures taxi, Uber, and Lyft drivers.
Filed on December 17, 2024, the lawsuit alleges that Sunny knowingly provided fraudulent medical services, including arthroscopic surgeries, and then submitted false claims to the insurance firm American Transit.
The suit claims these payments were disguised as dividends or other forms of cash distributions in exchange for the kickbacks. In response to the serious accusations, Emmanuel Hostin’s attorney, Daniel John Thwaites, issued a statement denying all allegations.
“Dr. Hostin denies each and every allegation,” John said, calling the lawsuit a “blanket, scattershot, meritless lawsuit by a near-bankrupt insurance carrier.”
The lawyer further argued that the lawsuit was meant to intimidate and harass doctors who have been collecting payments for services rendered to American Transit-insured individuals.
John also defended Sunny’s professional record, describing it as “impeccable” and stating that American Transit filed the lawsuit without conducting a proper examination of Dr. Hostin’s work or expressing any concerns to his legal team.
“The real story here is about an insurance carrier abusing the legal system to limit and restrict health care benefits to its insureds and their passengers, and write off its proper obligations,” John added.
The lawsuit, which seeks at least $450 million in damages, claims that no-fault fraud is a significant problem in New York, with American Transit’s attorney stating, “American Transit filed a lawsuit as part of its statutory responsibility to fight such fraud.”
Emmanuel Hostin, who has been married to Sunny Hostin since 1998, has not publicly addressed the case beyond his attorney’s statement. As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how it will affect both his career and his public image.
