Line-ups revealed as City host Class of ’92-owned League Two side

Manchester City host League Two Salford City in the FA Cup Third Round with Pep Guardiola’s side looking to continue their promising recent form and avoid an almighty upset.

The Premier League champions have started the new year strongly, claiming back-to-back victories after a dismal run that saw them win just one of 13 matches in all competitions.

It will also give Guardiola a rare opportunity to shuffle the relatively small squad he currently has at his disposal, and give a chance to some younger members of his team.

Salford, meanwhile, sit third in the fourth tier of English football. And while the hosts will be firm favourites to progress, a club co-owned by members of Manchester United’s ‘Class of ‘92’ making the short trip to Etihad will bring an added level of spice to the occasion.

Read on to see how both teams line-up.

Nathan Ake and Savinho are the only two players who retain their place in the City team from the Premier League victory against West Ham as, perhaps unsurprisingly, Guardiola makes nine changes.

Twenty-year-old Divin Mubama, who joined in the summer from the Hammers, makes his senior debut, while Ederson, Jack Grealish, and Ilkay Gundogan also start.

Salford City team news

The League Two high-flyers make two changes for the short trip to the Etihad, with Matty Lund and Kylian Kouassi coming in.

Boss Karl Robinson, assisted by former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs in the dugout, names three under-18s players on the bench as Salford, despite their opponents recent poor run of results, look to cause what would be one of the competition’s all-time biggest upsets.
