Dewald Brevis shows amazing athleticism to pull off a sensational catch in SA20

South Africa’s young sensation Dewald Brevis pulled off a stunning relay catch in the fourth match of SA20 2025 between Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town. Brevis showed his full range of athleticism and plucked out a beauty at the boundary.

It was a full-length delivery from Kagiso Rabada on the stumps but Faf du Plessis tried to play an inside-out shot over covers. However, he ended up slicing the ball and it went towards the deep cover boundary where Dewald Brevis was stationed.

The short boundaries and the wind of the Wanderers looked to take the ball over the ropes but Dewald Brevis had other ideas. He moved to his right and took the catch cleanly before throwing the ball up in the air after realizing that he was going over the boundary.

He came back and dived forward to grab the ball cleanly in the end. Dewald Brevis was able to maintain his balance superbly at this moment and it was easily the best catch of the season so far.

Watch: Dewald Brevis pulls off a sensational catch

The youngster was clearly over the moon after pulling off one of the most sensational catches in the history of the tournament and he immediately ran towards the bowler Kagiso Rabada to celebrate the big wicket.

The rest of the teammates too followed while the Joburg skipper Faf du Plessis looked stunned while walking back to the pavilion. It is one of du Plessis’ favorite shots but he didn’t quite get the right connection this time and was dismissed for 30.

MI Cape Town rocked early by Joburg Super Kings

Earlier, Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. MI Cape Town were rocked early by some superb bowling and excellent conditions for the bowlers at the Wanderers. They were reduced to 30-4 in 8.3 overs and were on the brink of getting bowled out for the lowest score in SA20.

Dewald Brevis, who batted superbly in the first match, was dismissed cheaply here. But George Linde had other ideas and played another blinder down the order. He got great support from Delano Potgieter who showed his brilliant batting skills after pulling off an impressive bowling performance in the last match.

Linde scored an unbeaten 48 off 35 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes while Potgieter smashed 44 off just 22 balls and provided his team a blistering finish. Potgieter scored 4 fours and 3 sixes during his knock. It was an excellent bowling performance from the Super Kings as they had reduced the opposition to 140-6 in 20 overs.

Joburg Super Kings start their campaign with a win

In reply, Joburg Super Kings didn’t have a good start as well and lost Devon Conway early. Leus du Plooy steadied the innings while Faf du Plessis played in an aggressive style before a stunning catch led to his departure.

Jonny Bairstow came in at No. 4 but was bowled cheaply by Rabada off a ripper before rain stopped play. The rain didn’t allow the play to continue again and the Super Kings were finally declared the winners by 6 runs since they were ahead on the DLS score.
