PEOPLE reports that husband and wife Anthony Gribble and Paula Gribble, 80 and 76, respectively, and Enrique Reyes, 64, died. The Gribble’s son held Lever at gunpoint until police pulled up to the scene and arrested him on Friday, January 10. If it wasn’t for the son’s action, David Lever might’ve killed more people, Sheriff Paul Dance stated in an interview with the press. An investigation revealed at least 50 weapons in Lever’s home and plenty of ammunition in his van.
The suspect was seemingly on a rampage Friday. David Lever’s timeline is a little murky because surveillance footage shows him leaving his home at about 1:28 p.m. Around the same time, his neighbor, Enrique Reyes, was returning back home from making a purchase at a nearby Food Lion. Less than 20 minutes after Lever left his home, he allegedly fired shots while leaving a Speedway gas station. By 2:17 p.m., police got the call about Lever killing the Gribbles and being detained.
Then, at 2:50 p.m., cops got a report about shots fired into an empty house. Later, at about 3:35 p.m., police dispatched an ambulance to Reyes’s home after a 911 caller spotted him lying in the driveway, per ABC 12 (WCTI).
Ultimately, investigators linked Lever to all the crime scenes. However, it’s still unclear whether he personally knew each of the victims.Â
