Australia’s unemployment rate ticks higher to 4% in December

Australia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched higher to 4.0% in December 2024 from November’s eight-month low of 3.9%, matching market consensus.

The underemployment rate ticked down to 6.0% from the prior 6.1%. Monthly hours worked in all jobs rose 10M to 1,976M.
