Keyshawn Davis Manufactures Drama With Shakur Stevenson Face-Off

Keyshawn Davis posted a picture of him posing in a face-off with his best friend, Shakur Stevenson, today on Instagram, asking fans if that’s a fight they want to see. WBC lightweight champion Shakur already said this week that he would “never” fight Keyshawn for no amount of money.

The Photo Op

In the face-off, Keyshawn looked like a BIG welterweight standing next to the normal-sized lightweight, Stevenson. I don’t know how Davis can make 135, as big as he is, but I understand why he chooses to fight in this weight class. It’s easy pickings, given his massive welterweight size.

Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) is just using fake hype to get people talking about him. He’ll fight next month against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14th at the Hula Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. The event will be shown live on ESPN+. There’s no buzz whatsoever about Davis’ fight against Berinchyk because fans aren’t interested in it. Keyshawn picked the weakest link to fight for a world title instead of showing courage and going after the other champions.

The Fight That Won’t Happen

It’s too bad Keyshawn and Shakur won’t fight because it means there will be an undisputed lightweight champion while the two of the share the same division and refuse to mix it up. That’s assuming that Keyshawn can capture the WBO title against Berinchyk because if he loses that fight against the weakest link, he’ll never win a world title at 135. Keyshawn is already looking enormous for the lightweight division, like a true welterweight.

I can understand the hustle on his part, draining down to fight smaller guys at 135 rather than fighting where he should be at 147 against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. Keyshawn wouldn’t stand a chance against Boots, and probably none of the other belt-holders in the welterweight division either. He’s like a fish that can only exist in certain waters. You take the fish out of its habitat, and it can’t exist. That’s Keyshawn to the T.

“This is what y’all want?” said Keyshawn Davis on Instagram about a fight between him and his friend, Shakur Stevenson.

The Berinchyk Challenge

“On Valentine’s Day, I got no love. I’m going out there and getting the knockout. Berinchyk, you’re a hell of a fighter,” said Keyshawn Davis on his YouTube channel, talking about his fight next month on February 14th on ESPN+ against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk.

“I’m knocking him out. You know what I’m doing. It’s going to be a great victory. ‘The Businessman.” Shout out to Berinchyk for giving me the opportunity, right? He gave my the opportunity, the face of big checks. We’re all going to walk away happy. On February 14th, it’s going down at MSG at the Hula Theater,” said Davis.
