Donald Trump Asks Companies ‘Not To Let TikTok Stay Dark’
Cameron’s hope for an intervention from the government seems to be taking effect as President-elect Donald Trump shared a message via Truth Social, calling for an extension of the time before the federal law banning TikTok takes effect.
He wrote, “I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark! I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security. The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order.”
Trump stated that Americans deserve access to the upcoming Inauguration and related events. He proposed a joint venture with 50% U.S. ownership to secure TikTok’s future, claiming it would save the app, ensure proper management, and unlock immense value, contingent on U.S. approval for the arrangement.
