Australia National Cricket Team have received a massive boost ahead of the two-match Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. Premier batter Steve Smith has been given the green signal by the specialist to take part in the series against the island nation.
Australia National Cricket Team are all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in the two-match Test series. The series between the teams will begin on 29th January, followed by the second game of the series to be played from 6th February. Both the games will be played at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.
Steve Smith got injured while playing in the Big Bash League, sustaining blow to his right elbow
Just a few days ahead of the series, the Australia National Cricket Team faced a massive setback when Steve Smith got injured while playing in the Big Bash League. The batter injured his right elbow, and there were lots of doubts raised over his availability for the Sri Lanka Tests.
Many reports even suggested that Steve Smith will be missing the series due to the injury. But a couple of days back, Cricket Australia made a statement on the batter, saying that he would be consulting a specialist before any call related to his availability will be taken by the management.

Smith also didn’t travel with the Australia National Cricket Team to their training camp in Dubai ahead of the two-match series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. It was learned that he would be seeing the doctor first before boarding the flight to Australia.
The batter, however, has now visited the doctor, who cleared the batter of injury. He will be soon traveling to Dubai for the training camp ahead of the series. However, he won’t be batting immediately and will be doing that later in the week.

Cricket Australia released the official statement on the batter and said: “Steve Smith has undergone a specialist medical review today following his right elbow injury sustained during the Big Bash League.
“He has been cleared to rejoin the Test squad and travel to Dubai. Smith is expected to return to batting later in the week to begin his preparation for the first Test against Sri Lanka.”

Steve Smith was appointed as the captain of the Australia National Cricket Team for the Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. This was because Pat Cummins will be missing the series due to an injury and the birth of his second child.
Australia National Cricket Team have already qualified for the final of the ICC World Test Championship and they will be looking to get some good preparations under their belt before heading to the UK.
