Despite cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs at the 2024 Super Bowl, Miles and Keleigh Teller will be on opposing sides with pal Taylor Swift for this year’s big game.
“Thankfully, when I was at the Chiefs’ last Super Bowl, they weren’t playing the [Philadelphia] Eagles,” Miles, 37, told People in an interview published on Tuesday, February 4, noting that this year, “I’m going to be in a sea of green.”
Miles has been a lifelong Eagles fan, having been born just outside of Philadelphia in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Upon tying the knot with Keleigh, 32, in 2019, Miles told the outlet his wife has also become a “diehard Birds fan.”
He added: “She might be a Southern California girl, but you marry into a Philadelphia sports [family] and that is it.”
Miles seemingly brought up Swift, 35, while talking about this year’s Super Bowl. Despite having “friends” rooting for the Chiefs, he confirmed that Keleigh is firmly “an Eagles fan.”
He did not specify whether he and his wife will be joining Swift at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9. (The couple lost their home in recent Los Angeles wildfires.) Swift, for her part, is expected to attend the game to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Miles and Keleigh have been friends with the Grammy winner for several years and were among several celebrities who sat in Swift’s suite at the 2024 Super Bowl. After watching the Chiefs take home their second consecutive Super Bowl win, Keleigh took to Instagram to share pics of their game-day fun.
“INSANITY, what a night😂😂😂 Lana [Del Rey] and I recovered. CONGRATS 🎉🎉,” Keleigh captioned a February 2024 Instagram carousel, which featured several snaps of herself sitting in the suite’s front row with Swift, Ice Spice and Blake Lively, among others. “Best day with my Chiefs fam. One for the books 🏈💥.”
Her post also featured a sweet snap of herself giving Miles a kiss on the cheek. While the Top Gun: Maverick star didn’t sport Chiefs gear to the game, Keleigh felt festive in a red-and-yellow Chiefs merch jacket, which she sported over a white tank top and jeans.
Much like Miles, Swift also grew up in Pennsylvania as an Eagles fan. She even referenced the team in her 2020 track “Gold Rush” off her album Evermore, singing, “I see me padding across your wooden floors / With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.”
Although the Swifts have connections to both the Chiefs and the Eagles headed into this year’s Super Bowl, Kelce, 35, said he thinks Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, will be rooting for his team.
“I’ll have to ask Scott himself, we haven’t had that convo yet,” Kelce shared during a Monday, February 3, Super Bowl press conference. “But I think he’ll be wearing red. I don’t know.”
One person who won’t be wearing red at the sporting event is Travis’ brother, retired Eagles center Jason Kelce. “I can’t wear it. I can’t bring myself to it,” he shared on the January 29 episode of his and Travis’ “New Heights” podcast.
Instead, Jason, 37, will be rooting for both teams in some of his and Travis’ “New Heights” merch. “I would be lying if I said I don’t want the Eagles to win. You know what I mean? I want them to, but I also want Travis Kelce to win,” he shared. “So, that’s a long-winded way of saying I just want to see a good football game, and whoever wins, I’m going to be happy for that guy.”
