Bananas And Watermelons: Davis Accuses Berinchyk Of Racist Act

Keyshawn Davis accused WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk and his team of sending him a box of bananas, watermelon, and a note to his room ahead of today’s press conference for Friday’s fight at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City.

When confronted by the challenger Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) during the press conference, Berinchyk said printed that he didn’t speak English and stated that someone was trying to create fake hype by pulling the stunt of sending watermelons and bananas to his room.

Berinchyk’s Denial

Davis wasn’t buying Berinchyk’s denial and said he would take it out on him on Friday during the fight. He’s assuming that Berinchyk sent this stuff, but without actual proof, he’s guessing. Anyone could have sent it.

Keyshawn Davis: “I want to address that this guy came to America to give me watermelons and bananas with a note on it. It’s professional, and I feel like it’s racist, and you just made this fight a little more personal,” said Keyshawn during today’s final press conference, accusing Berichyk of sending these items to him.

“This man brought a box of watermelons and bananas to America to get to my room. I took it as racist and I got something for you. Look at his coaches’ face.”

Denys Berinchyk: “I don’t speak English, I don’t write English, and I saw his message in what media. It’s weird to even mention this. Some people with bad intentions looking for some hype made this to now.”

Keyshawn: “He didn’t say all that. Y’all did it. It’s okay that you did it. I’m going to whoop your a** for it. So just come Friday night, know what’s going to happen to the both of you. Champ [promoter Alex Krassyuk], it’s not your show. It’s his show. Let him [Berinchyk] talk.”
