Box score, game stats, summary and more ft. Quinn Ewers

No. 3 Texas continued its potential run toward an SEC title and a College Football Playoff berth with a hard-fought win on the road at Arkansas, 20-10.

The Longhorns hold a 10-0 halftime advantage on the strength of a Quinn Ewers TD pass and solid work from the Texas defense and held on for the win.

Texas (9-1, 5-1 in SEC) has its resume tarnished only by a loss to Georgia. That said, the Georgia game is the only matchup yet played on Texas’s schedule against a team currently in the top 25.

Arkansas (5-5, 3-4) was looking to clinch bowl eligibility with a major upset. Arkansas defeated Tennessee earlier this season, and still has two chances to claim a bowl berth.

Texas broke ahead after an interception set the Horns up with a short field. A 6-play, 61-yard drive ended in a 20-yard strike from Ewers to Matthew Golden. Texas added a field goal in the second quarter and another after halftime. But Arkansas then drove 75 yards to score on a 1-yard run by Ja’Quinden Jackson to pull within 13-7 late in the third quarter.

After a stop, Arkansas converted a 44-yard field goal to pull within 13-10 early in the fourth quarter. But Texas answered with a steady 75-yard march, scoring on a 1-yard throw from Ewers to Golden to pull away. Arkansas answered with a strong drive, but lost a fumble at the 27 yard line.

Texas will host Kentucky and then play at Texas A&M to win the regular season. The Longhorns join Tennessee and Texas A&M as the only SEC teams with one loss. The Longhorns are all but certain to reach the College Football Playoff.

Arkansas will be favored to clinch bowl eligibility next week against Louisiana Tech and then will travel to Missouri to finish the regular season.
