Celine Dion Honors Husband On His 9th Death Anniversary

Celine Dion eulogizes her late husband with a cozy family portrait on her Instagram account.

The legendary vocalist seized the 9th death anniversary of her late husband, René Angélil, to remind him of just how much he means to her and the kids despite his painful exit.

Celine Dion and René Angélil met in the 1980s when the latter served as her manager. They tied the knot in December 1994 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montréal.

The performer penned a loving post to celebrate the memory of her late partner just a few weeks after celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary last December.

Dion decked out in an all-white ensemble and posed with their children, who also opted for a neutral color palette and flanked their mom on a couch for the family picture.

The singer looked healthy and in great spirits as they all braved the chilling cold outdoors and posed against a backdrop of big red Christmas bows and greenery. She accompanied the post with an emotional caption:

“René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I.”

Dion described her late husband as her “greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…. We love you. —Celine xx…”

The Canadian’s Instagram post garnered over 290k likes and 2k comments so far, a testament to her tribute resonating with lots of audiences. One user wrote:

“Your love is so beautiful and pure that it makes me believe in true love and that it transcends death.”

Another noted that the late Angélil would be so proud of their kids, who have grown into amazing adults. “Your Courage has always been an inspiration to everyone. You have successfully cared for your children. Rene will be proud of you!” one more commenter penned down.

One fan described her late husband as “such a great influence on your lives and shaping who you are today! He lives on in your hearts and left behind such a magnificent legacy.”

An ardent fan of Dion’s artistic genius thanked Angélil for giving the world “an artist and a legacy full of songs about love.”

Dion has never held back when expressing her admiration and undying love for her late husband. In December, The Blast reported that the actress praised her husband in a heartfelt Instagram tribute on what would have been their 30th wedding anniversary.

She celebrated the occasion by uploading a throwback photo from their 1994 wedding, in which she reflected on the lasting legacy Angélil left behind in the lives of herself and their three sons: René-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy.

Dion looked regal in the image, which captured her chic headpiece and bridal veil delicately embracing her flawless face. She cradled a smitten Angélil’s face, who let himself revel in Dion’s gaze and held her hips to sustain the momentum. 

“You still fill our hearts every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!” Dion declared. 

Fans in the comments were amazed at the dedication, devotion, and love the singer has shown her husband despite his painful exit.

Dion reminisced on how she and Angélil began their journey towards their enduring love. According to her, their chapter began when she was just 12 years old and met the manager.

The 56-year-old described her initial feelings for Angélil as pure respect and admiration, which helped her become one of the most iconic voices worldwide.

Their professional relationship soon blossomed when a teenage Dion began secretly dating Angélil, who was nearly three decades older than her.

“We kind of kept it cool because of my career. I was living that love secretly. When I was at the age to be able to say to people, it was like bang! Love! Love always wins,” the philanthropist explained.

Aside from carrying the pain of losing her beloved husband, Dion also battled a rare neurological disease, which saw her pause on doing what she loved the most.

In a report by The Blast, she offered a close view into what life felt like for someone dealing with stiff person syndrome. “It’s like somebody is strangling you,” the artist explained in an interview excerpt with Hoda Kotb, where she demonstrated the physical sensations she endures by pressing on her throat.

She touched on the effect of the condition on her insane vocals, stating, “It’s like you’re talking like that, and you cannot go higher or lower. It gets into a spasm.”

The mom of three also shared the physical toll of stiff person syndrome, including agonizing muscle spasms and stiffness.
