Tyson Fury is aiming for an unparalleled level of focus entering his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on Dec. 21. The pair previously faced off on May 18 in an undisputed heavyweight title fight. Fury was defeated for the first time in his career after losing a narrow split decision.
Ahead of their rematch, ‘The Gypsy King’ stated that he has not spoken to his wife for three months as part of his plan to prepare for the Ukrainian. The admission from Fury caught fans off guard, and they speculated that his decision to isolate from family members may backfire.
However, leading boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes it could have the desired effect. The Matchroom Boxing chairman was recently interviewed by iFL TV ahead of Usyk vs. Fury 2, where he discussed the Brit’s comments about having no contact with his wife.
Hearn said:

“Everyone’s different, and when you’ve suffered that defeat, maybe he’s just leaving no stone unturned. He’s just saying, ‘I’m gonna put everything into this training camp.’ I feel like when you enter the ring, if you know that you’ve made huge sacrifices and sometimes horrible sacrifices, do you think that gives you more strength in the fight? I think the answer is yes.”
