Ellyse Perry takes absolute blinder to dismiss Meg Lanning in WPL 2025


Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Ellyse Perry came up with a magical effort on the field during the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals. The 14th match of the WPL 2025 between the teams is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (1st March).

Ellyse Perry has been having the time of her life in the ongoing WPL 2025. The Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder has been extremely successful with the bat in the ongoing edition and this was evident during the ongoing game as well as she played yet another blinder.

While her batting was top-notch, Ellyse Perry produced a moment of brilliance in the field to take her team off to a flying start in the second innings. The Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder turned into a superwoman and took a magnificent catch to remove Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning.

Renuka Singh bowled an inswinging delivery, and that was pitched right up, bending in at the stumps. Meg Lanning tried to loft it down the ground but didn’t get the proper connection as the ball took the inside half of the bat to mid-on where Ellyse Perry took a good overhead catch while jumping in the air.

Meg Lanning ended with an innings of 2 runs off 12 balls. The Delhi Capitals skipper looked torrid with the bat, and with her wicket, her team lost their first wicket for just 5 runs while chasing a total of 148 runs on the board.

Coming to the RCB innings, Ellyse Perry was the shining light for her team. The all-rounder played a magnificent innings of unbeaten 60 runs off 47 balls. She batted with a strike rate of over 127 and also slammed 3 fours and 3 sixes in her innings.

The rest of the RCB batters struggled to get going. Apart from Ellyse Perry, Raghvi Bist played a vital hand of 33 runs. The duo together added 65 runs for the third wicket and thanks to their effort, the home side posted a total of 147 runs.

I got into the tournament with a very good rhythm – Shikha Pandey

For Delhi Capitals, Shikha Pandey was the pick of the bowlers as she returned with the figures of 2/24. While talking about her heroics with the ball, she said that she entered the tournament on the back of good rhythm and credited bowlers for their efforts. Speaking after the match, she said:

“I thought I got into the tournament with a very good rhythm, but I lost it in between. Sat with the DC support staff and the support I have got is immense. It is about contributing, and I’m glad I did that. Our bowlers did really well not to allow them to get 150.

“I think it is a really good batting wicket. We have gotten so used to the Bangalore pitches having good pace and carry, we are used to the hard length, but today it is on the slower side, so have to pitch fuller.”
