Elon Musk keen to buy Liverpool according to billionaire’s father

Errol Musk, the father of billionaire Elon Musk, has suggested that his son might be interested in acquiring Liverpool Football Club.

Speaking to Times Radio, Musk Sr. revealed the family’s connection to the city and shared insights into the tech genius’ potential interest in the Premier League leaders.

Musk Sr. explained the family’s historical ties to Liverpool, as Elon’s paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born there before moving to South Africa.

“He would like to [buy Liverpool], yes, obviously,” said Musk Sr. “Anybody would want to – so would I!

“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool. We were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family.

“So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know…”

While discussing the idea of a purchase, Musk Sr. expressed concerns that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s current owners, might raise the price if they were aware of Elon Musk’s interest.

This isn’t the first time Musk’s name has been associated with owning a football club. In 2022, the Tesla and SpaceX founder caused a stir on social media when he tweeted that he was buying Manchester United.

“I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” Musk posted, sparking a frenzy among fans.

The tweet quickly amassed tens of thousands of retweets and over 200,000 likes. However, he later clarified that it was a joke, responding to a comment on the original post with: “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams. Although, if it were any team, it would be Man Utd. They were my fav team as a kid.

“And I’m not buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in, despite the extreme popularity of such a move.”

While Errol Musk’s comments have reignited speculation about Elon Musk entering the world of football ownership, the billionaire has not confirmed any plans to purchase Liverpool.

Fans will undoubtedly watch closely to see if the Tesla CEO makes a serious move to expand his empire into the Premier League.
