Shortly before the fatal American Airlines crash in Washington, D.C, figure skater Spencer Lane shared a photo from inside the plane. The 16-year-old uploaded an Instagram Story on Wednesday, January 29, with the caption “ICT -> DCA,” referencing the codes for Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Lane and his mother, Christine, were among the passengers on American Airlines flight 5342, which collided with an Army helicopter and fell into the Potomac River. U.S. Figure Skating later confirmed that “several members of our skating community” were on the flight from Kansas, where the National Development Camp and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships were taking place. “We are devastated by this unspeakable tragedy and hold the victims’ families closely in our hearts,” the organization noted in a statement, adding that more information will be released “as it becomes available.” Scroll below for more of Us Weekly’s top stories:
