Tottenham suffered another embarrassing defeat at the weekend when they were beaten by Leicester City.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are currently 15th in the league and they suffered their 13th defeat in the Premier League this season.
Problems are mounting for the Tottenham manager and it appears like he has no answer to the problems being faced by the North London club.
They have been impressive in the attacking department this season, with only Liverpool and Manchester City scoring more goals than them in the league this season.
However, their defensive issues are causing problems for them with some of the players out injured.
Spurs have conceded 37 goals in the league this season in 23 matches and if Postecoglou, who was upset with the reaction of Tottenham fans after the Leicester defeat, does not find a way to solve that, there problems are not going to go away.
Football pundit Paul Robinson has pointed out the player who has been a cause of huge concern for the Premier League side.
In the summer transfer window, they signed Wilson Odobert but the 20-year-old winger’s season has been affected by injuries with the player making just five appearances in all competitions this season.
In conversation with Tottenham News, Robinson said:
“The squad is unbalanced, which I said at the start of the season. Looking at the players in the attacking areas – Kulusevski, Maddison, Bergvall, Johnson, Werner, Solanke, Odobert, that last one came out of the blue from Burnley.
“It’s so unbalanced. Dragusin was the only recognised centre-half before Ben Davies was granted fit again, but covering the full-back and centre-back areas has been the problem.”
Ange Postecoglou has failed to address the issues at Tottenham
A quiet January transfer window, in which only goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has arrived at the club, could prove to be highly detrimental for Spurs and their remaining season.
They were expected to invest in new defenders this month because of the injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, however, they have been unable to do that so far.
A place in Europe is looking highly unlikely for them at this stage and Postecoglou’s job is hanging in the balance if he fails to turnaround their season.
Spurs are reportedly considering making a change at the club with the North London side linked with a move for former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to replace Postecoglou.
