The Santa Fe County sheriff has shared updates on the death of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, although many questions remain unanswered. “It’s very difficult to put a timeline together even with the help of the office of the medical investigator,” Sheriff Adan Mendoza told Savannah Guthrie during a Friday, February 28, appearance on Today. “Just based on their body and other evidence on the body, it looked — it appears [that they were deceased for] several days, even up to a couple of weeks.” Mendoza went on to say that his team is trying to “put together a timeline” that includes when Hackman and Arakawa, who were 95 and 64, respectively, were last seen or spoken to.
