Gypsy Rose Blanchard Claims Ryan Anderson Remains In The Picture

Despite previously confirming the paternity of her baby daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard reveals that her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, still remains involved in legal proceedings.

Ahead of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s new season of “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup,” the 33-year-old spoke out about her ongoing legal battles regarding the paternity of baby Aurora.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Gypsy Rose revealed that the baby drama is still not over.

“We’re still dealing with some things wrapped around the paternity, believe it or not, getting the paperwork finalized for that,” she told the magazine.

Although she took a paternity test before Aurora’s birth and publicly confirmed that Ken Urker, whom she is currently dating, is the biological father, Gypsy explains that there are still legal steps to be completed.

“So it’s like I took the test before she was born, and I posted that Instagram that shut all the rumors of who the father was down, so it was clear, but then you have the court proceeding part of it, you have to follow up on,” she explained. “And so that is currently what we are dealing with. So Ryan is not out of the picture yet.”

While Gypsy did not clarify whether Ryan is actively fighting for paternity, she admitted that the process has been stressful for her and Ken.

“It’s something we can’t manage, but it’ll be nice to have everything finalized and done so we can just all move on,” she said. “It’s probably going to be another couple months. It is a very long process.”

Gypsy’s legal hurdles stem from a Louisiana law that presumes a child born during a marriage legally belongs to the husband. Although Gypsy and Ryan were separated at the time of her pregnancy, they were still legally married.

“There’s a legal presumption in Louisiana that if you have a child while you’re married, it’s presumed to be the husband’s child,” attorney Beau Brock previously explained to PEOPLE. “That presumption can be overcome by DNA, and that’s what people have to do.”

Had Gypsy and Ryan not been divorced for at least 300 days at the time of Aurora’s birth, he could have been automatically listed as the father on the infant’s birth certificate.

Gypsy first confirmed Ken’s paternity in November 2023.

“There’s been a lot of chatter around the paternity of our baby and while we’ve known for sure from the beginning, I feel that it’s finally time to put all these theories to rest,” she said last year. “Here are the results showing Ken is the father. Ken is going to be an incredible dad and we are so excited to welcome our baby girl into the world.”

Gypsy and Ryan were married for two years before finalizing their divorce in December 2023. She had initially filed for divorce in April.

Gypsy Rose and Ken’s love story has been anything but conventional.

The couple first met while Gypsy was still serving time for her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

What began as a prison romance evolved into a years-long journey filled with ups and downs, breakups, and ultimately, a surprising reconnection that led to their growing family.

Following her highly publicized split from ex-husband Ryan, Gypsy reconnected with Ken, and the pair quickly rekindled their relationship. “I filed for divorce and then reconnected with Ken. And a month later we got pregnant. It’s kind of been a journey,” she shared.

For Gypsy, the idea of having a child with Ken had been a long-standing dream—one she thought had faded when their initial relationship ended in 2019.

“When we had broken up [it was like] ‘Oh, Aurora is never going to be born,’” she explained, referencing their daughter, whom they welcomed earlier this year. “A lot of people think the origin is one thing, but they don’t know that little story.”
