Hamas said on Monday that it was postponing the release of Israeli hostages planned for this Saturday “until further notice”, accusing Israel of not sticking to a complex ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

In a brief statement, Hamas’s spokesman accused Israel of breaching various aspects of the fragile deal to halt the war in Gaza, which took effect three weeks ago.

As part of the agreement, Hamas has been freeing Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.

There was no immediate response from Israel.

During the last three weeks, Hamas has freed 21 hostages in return for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
