How Prince William Is ‘Seizing’ More Power Amid The King’s Cancer Battle

Reports have emerged that Prince William is aggressively stepping into his role as the heir apparent amid his father, King Charles III‘s ongoing health struggles.

The 42-year-old is said to be already making key decisions about the Palace’s future and is now rumored to be the “toughest ruler the family has ever seen.”

Prince William also reportedly wants to reduce the family’s expenses and is intentional about improving their public image amid recent scandals involving his brother and uncle.

According to reports, Prince William is “seizing” more power from his father as the latter continues to battle cancer.

Since King Charles III was diagnosed with the illness last year, he has reportedly handed over more and more responsibilities to the Prince of Wales, seemingly “acknowledging that his time to rule will be sooner rather than later.”

Now, the heir apparent is said to be making bold, tough decisions, regardless of whose toes he steps on, amid his influence growing in recent months.

He is also not hesitating to let go of those who oppose him, particularly when it comes to making decisions he believes will benefit the Crown in the long run.

“It’s no secret that anyone who pushes back against him will be swiftly shown the door,” a palace insider told Intouch.

Sources close to The Firm have also reported that one of Prince William’s main priorities is to revamp the public image of the royal family.

The family has been plagued by scandals following the departure of his estranged brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, who stepped down from their senior royal roles and moved to California.

These include revelations from the couple’s bombshell documentary, Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, and a number of interviews that the duo have granted.

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, is also believed to be one of those whom William thinks has tarnished the family’s image due to the sex scandal he was embroiled in a few years ago.

Due to their various actions, Prince William has reportedly declared Prince Harry, Meghan, and Prince Andrew as persona non grata as part of his plans to change the family’s public image.

William is also said to have plans to cut back on any unnecessary expenditures the Palace has been making in the past.

“[William] wants expenses to be monitored closely and any fat trimmed straightaway,” said a source. “He doesn’t want there to be any sense that special perks are being handed out to the royals.”

As part of his plans, he intends to steer the family toward green living, which includes cutting down on private flights.

The insider continued, “He’s all about the environment, so he’s pushing hard to be front and center in that respect and has put out this edict that the rest of the family needs to get on board with being as green as possible. Private flights and that sort of thing are being frowned on.”

They added, “The days of wasteful spending and overconsumption are ending now that William is at the helm.”

Previously, it was reported that Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have begun preparing for his ascension.

“Although the king is carrying out his duties with typical determination, he has had to accept limitations during his cancer treatment,” royal biographer Bedell Smith told People Magazine.

“As a result, William has been taking on more responsibilities, and he and Kate have been preparing for their future roles sooner than they would have expected,” Smith added.

The royal biographer also emphasized the weight of responsibility on the heir apparent, for whom The Firm has already begun drawing up succession plans.

“There’s a sense of calm before the storm,” Smith continued. “They are next in line for the biggest job of their lives, and of course, Kate’s health has taken priority, but it’s also allowed everyone to take a step back and figure out what’s important right now.”

Meanwhile, William reportedly does not want Harry to attend his future coronation, as he considers the Duke of Sussex “disloyal.”

According to a Sunday Times article, the Prince of Wales has expressed that he wants his crowning, which will take place after the death of King Charles III, to “look and feel different,” possibly including Harry’s absence.

William’s friends have stated that, as things stand, he does not want Harry at the ceremony, noting: “They are estranged, which is dreadfully sad.”

One of Charles’ friends commented on the situation: “The problem for the king and other members of the family is the worry that if they have a chat with Harry, it will appear in ‘Spare’ Volume 2. How do you regain the trust? I don’t think Harry ever can.”

The friend continued, “But from the conversations I’ve had with the king, I would never say their relationship is irreparable. The king’s capacity to forgive his son is undimmed. There are other members of the royal family who are much more weighted against Harry, that’s the problem.”
