High-flying India will be eyeing a clean sweep when they take on England in the third and final ODI of the ongoing series. The game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday (February 12) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India have already sealed the three-match series by winning the first two ODIs. After winning the first game by 4 wickets, India beat the visitors in the second game by a similar margin. Batting first, England came up with a better show and posted a challenging total of 304 runs.
However, India made light work of the target thanks to their captain Rohit Sharma’s stunning century. India chased down the total inside 45 overs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. With the Men in Blue now eyeing another win, we are taking a look at the India Playing 11 for the third IND vs ENG ODI.
India Playing 11 vs England – 3rd ODI, England tour of India 2025:
Opener: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are set to be the openers in the India Playing 11 for the third ODI as well. Gill batted at number three in the first ODI in Virat Kohli’s absence and played a fine knock of 87 runs. After returning to his original batting position in the ODI team, the right-handed batsman came up with yet another impressive knock.
He scored 60 runs and shared a 136-run stand with captain Rohit Sharma for the first wicket. Talking about Rohit, the India batting stalwart led the charge with the bat for his team.
He led the team from the very front and roared back to form with a stunning century. Rohit scored 119 runs off just 90 balls with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes. He will be looking to end the series on a good note.
Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja
Virat Kohli’s return to action was not memorable. After missing the first ODI due to a swollen knee, the batting maestro returned to India Playing 11 for the second game. However, he failed to score big on his return, getting dismissed on just 5 runs by Adil Rashid. Kohli will be desperate to score big in the third ODI and regain his form ahead of the all-important Champions Trophy.
Shreyas Iyer looked in good touch once again. After scoring a blazing fifty in the first game, he looked destined to score another in the second game as well. However, he missed the fifty by just 6 runs due to an unfortunate run out.
With the series already in the bag, India could make one change to their playing eleven. KL Rahul is expected to make way for Rishabh Pant in the India Playing 11 for the dead rubber. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored just 10 runs in the second game and could be rested for the upcoming game.
Axar Patel impressed with the bat once again. After scoring a fifty in the series opener, he scored an unbeaten 41 in the second game. With the ball, he went wicketless.
Ravindra Jadeja had a fine outing as well. The veteran allrounder picked up 3 wickets for just 35 runs in 10 overs and scored an unbeaten 11. Hardik Pandya could not make much impact in the game. With the ball, he picked up 1 wicket before scoring 10 runs.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy
India are unlikely to tinker with the bowling lineup in their last ODI before the Champions Trophy. Harshit Rana and Mohammed Shami are set to be the pacers in the India Playing 11 while Varun Chakravarthy is expected to lead the spin attack in the India Playing 11.
