A CIA document, declassified in 2017, recently circulated online claiming that life existed on Mars. The report titled Mars Exploration May 22, 1984, outlined how the agency reportedly used a concept where an individual was psychologically transported to the red planet while they physically continued to remain on Earth, as per Times Now.
This was called the Astral Projection, in which a person’s spirit was allegedly made to travel through the astral (related to the stars) plane. Reportedly, the individual was sent back to one million years B.C. and was seemingly provided with different geographical coordinates to explore on Mars. It remains scientifically unproven whether Astral Projection was real.
As per the declassified CIA document, Astral Projection was part of Project Stargate (overseen by the Defence Intelligence Agency or the DIA). According to Times Now, the initiative aimed to uncover information about the Soviet Union during the Cold War and explore the potential use of psychic phenomena in military and intelligence operations.
However, so far, there is no direct scientific evidence that life on Mars ever existed. Space exploration agencies such as NASA have been continuing their research on the same.
More about the declassified CIA report about potential life on Mars
In the 1980s, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) decided to use Project Stargate to train human subjects to do “remote viewing” as part of their goal to gather information about global affairs.
According to the Popular Mechanics website, remote viewing can be defined as:
“A type of extra-sensorial perception that involves using the mind to ‘see’ or manipulate distant objects, people, events, or other information that are hidden from physical view.”
Project Stargate also reportedly employed other mind-reading techniques like telepathy and psychokinesis, paranormal phenomena in the military, and espionage.
As per the declassified CIA report, “remote viewing” was also used for the “Mars Exploration May 22, 1984,” aka uncovering the red planet’s mysteries. It mentions a particular human subject who was seemingly exposed to binaural beats and hemi-sync audio that allowed them to psychologically transport to Mars in altered states of consciousness with enhanced psychic abilities.
The individual who seemingly went to Mars in a mental capacity reported witnessing an oblique view of a yellowish, okra-colored “pyramid or pyramid form,” along with monuments found in ancient Egypt, “severe clouds,” “very large road,” and “a perception of a shadow of people.”
“I just keep seeing very large people. They appear thin and tall, but they’re very large. Ah… wearing some kind of strange clothes,” the subject reportedly claimed to see.
Reportedly, these “very large people” were looking for “a new place to live because their environment had been corrupted.” Mars was also described as hostile, where alleged fierce storms compelled alleged natives to take shelter in said pyramids, which were also used for hibernation and survival.
The experiment also revealed that Mars inhabitants reportedly used vessels such as “large boats” to move out of their homes and find “volatile, vegetation-rich lands.” The study also seemingly surmised that the decay of Mars mirrored the unpredictable and fragile future of Earth.
Project Stargate was conducted at Fort Meade in Maryland between 1977 to 1995. Humans with extrasensory perception were hired to assist in gathering domestic and international intelligence. Besides the Mars exploration, it also reportedly helped locate hostages taken by militants to track fugitives.
By the mid-1990s, certain researchers surmised that Project Stargate wasn’t useful, convincing, or successful in gathering information. For instance, Ray Hyman noted that despite certain observations being “compelling,” remote viewing wasn’t real, as per British media company UNILAD.
However, he added that:
“The contemporary findings along with the output of the [Stargate] program do seem to indicate that something beyond odd statistical hiccups is taking place.”
At the time, the DIA and CIA began declassifying all documents and reports associated with Project Stargate, including Mars Exploration May 22, 1984. It was done so that the scientific credibility of the venture could later be externally reviewed.
While direct evidence of life on Mars is still under research, meltwater beneath Martian ice could support microbial life, as per an October 2024 NASA report.
