Gervonta Davis questions how Terence Crawford has found so much success in the last 11 years without being “clipped” since being hurt in his fight against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2014. He suspects that Crawford’s involvement with SNAC has resulted in his success.
What is overlooked is the weak opposition Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) has fought since 2014. His resume is poor, filled with washed-up, fighting on their last legs, average fighters who were nowhere near A-class.
Every fighter Crawford has on his resume would lose to Jaron Ennis and Vergil Ortiz. If they’d fought the same guys, they would have the same 41-0 record as Crawford, but they would have more knockouts and would be bigger stars due to their more entertaining styles.
Crawford’s “Luck”
Crawford is lucky that Turki Alalshikh emerged when he did because if not, he’d never fought Israil Madrimov and made a bundle of dough, and he wouldn’t be scheduled to fight Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. Alvarez would never have fought Crawford if he hadn’t been offered massive money.
No promoter on Earth would pay Canelo and Crawford the kind of money they would be looking to get for a fight. It’s not a match that guarantees a lot of PPV buys. Crawford’s last fight against Madrimov reportedly brought in between 75,000 and 100,000 buys on DAZN PPV. That was with a loaded card.
“Didn’t he get hurt by Gamboa? How the f*** has he been looking this strong in the past few years? He ain’t been getting clipped or nothing,” said Geronta Davis to ESNEWS, talking about Terence Crawford.
“That’s that SNAC s*** I’m telling you, and that guy who’s a part of it has been caught before. He went to jail for it,” said Tank about Victor Conte.
You’d have to be dense in the head not to see that Crawford’s resume is filled with fighters on the scrap heap, and washed up ex-champions from top to bottom. If I were Turki, I’d take one look at Crawford’s resume and say, ‘Be gone.’ I’d focus on good opposition for Canelo to fight, like David Benavidez.
