Beauty may be pain, but for Kim Kardashian, her 2024 Met Gala look took things to a whole new level.
On the latest episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the 44-year-old opened up about just how uncomfortable and claustrophobic she felt in her waist-cinching corset, which left her struggling to breathe.
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to suffering for style, having famously worn a corseted Thierry Mugler gown to the 2019 Met Gala and crash-dieted to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress in 2022.

For fashion’s biggest night, Kardashian stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet in a silver brocade corset designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. The structured bodice was paired with an extravagant skirt made from tooled silver metal, featuring flowers, leaves, pearls, mirror fragments, and crystals, which was a dazzling nod to the event’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.
While the look was undoubtedly breathtaking, many fans questioned how she managed to squeeze into the corset without crushing her internal organs. As it turns out, Kardashian nearly did just that.
At the start of the episode, Kardashian appeared confident and upbeat about her controversial fashion choice.

“I’m not as uncomfortable as I might look,” she assured viewers. “It’s definitely a performance piece. I mean, God bless the Bridgerton cast that has to dress like this every single day. That would be so difficult.”
But her optimism quickly faded as the night went on.

After the event, while standing inside a limo with close friend La La Anthony, Kardashian began to panic when she realized she couldn’t get the corset off. As Anthony struggled to help loosen the constricting garment, Kardashian’s discomfort spiraled into full-blown distress.
“I am claustrophobic,” she confessed in a confessional. “I’ve never felt this way before, where I feel like I can’t breathe.”
The discomfort became overwhelming. “It’s like I can handle it for so long, but I have to pee, I can’t breathe, I can’t get this off,” she recalled. “I was like, I’m going to die if you don’t get this off of me right now.”
Back in the limo, Kardashian doubled down on her discomfort. “I’ve never been more uncomfortable,” she admitted. “I really feel like I can’t breathe.”

Once back at her hotel, Kardashian finally freed herself from the corset, only to find that her back was bruised and covered in deep indentations from the extreme tightness of the garment.
But despite the pain, panic, and physical toll, Kardashian had zero regrets about wearing the eye-catching ensemble. “Abso-f-cking-lutely,” she told the cameras when asked if the look was worth it.
Ultimately, she summed up her dedication to fashion in one simple statement, “That’s just who I am. If you look good, it’s all worth it.”

Kim Kardashian made headlines at the 2022 Met Gala when she stepped onto the red carpet in Marilyn Monroe’s legendary “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress, a historic fashion moment that quickly turned into a heated controversy.
The dress, designed by Jean Louis and originally worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962, became an iconic piece of pop culture history when Monroe serenaded President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden. The gown, made of sheer, nude-colored fabric and hand-embroidered with over 2,500 crystals, was famously so tight that Monroe had to be sewn into it before performing.
It was later purchased by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum for $4.8 million in 2016, making it one of the most expensive dresses ever sold at auction.
Kim’s Extreme Weight Loss For The Dress

Kim Kardashian, known for going all out for the Met Gala, was determined to wear the actual 60-year-old garment, but there was one problem. It didn’t fit.
Instead of choosing an alternative, Kardashian embarked on an extreme crash diet, revealing that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into the dress. “I tried it on, and it didn’t fit me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks,’” she told Vogue. “It was like a role. I was determined to fit into it.”
Her transformation involved cutting out carbs and sugar completely, running on a treadmill in a sauna suit, and strictly eating clean meals. While some praised the tribute to Monroe, others were outraged by Kardashian’s decision to alter her body just to fit into a historical artifact.
