Leroy Sane says his thoughts are “only with Bayern Munich” after emerging as a reported target for two Premier League clubs.
The Germany winger is out of contract at the end of the season and makes an appealing signing for any club wanting to get a proven international on a free transfer.
Arsenal and Manchester United have already been mentioned as potential destinations for the 28-year-old but he has confirmed talks are underway to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.
He told Sport Bild: “We are in talks.
“I feel really comfortable talking to Vinni [coach Vincent Kompany], [board member for sport] Max Eberl and [sporting director] Christoph Freund. They are very good and trusting. Therefore, my thoughts are currently only with FC Bayern, everything else we will see in the next few weeks and months.
“I feel comfortable at the club as well as in the dressing room. What matters to me is that I play an important part in the future of FC Bayern.”
Money not important
Sane admits money will not be a major factor in his decision, adding: “It is generally not my top priority how much I earn. To be honest, I haven’t thought about it for a second. As I said, it’s about the overall package. What does my position look like? How does the club see me? Can we achieve something together as big as winning the Champions League? These are the things that are important to me for the time being.”
Sane underwent groin surgery after Euro 2024, restricting him to just three starts this season across all competitions, but even that has not dampened his enthusiasm for working under Kompany, who he had as a team-mate at Manchester City prior to his move to Bayern in 2020.
“We know each other well,” said the former Schalke man.
“Under Vinni we play offensive football. We have fun on the field under his leadership, which is important to me and of course also plays a role in my decision, of course.”
