Liverpool expected to make these two signings regardless of what happens with star name

Liverpool are reportedly expected to sign both a new centre-back and a new right-back in this summer’s transfer window.

The Reds currently have both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold coming towards the end of their contracts at the end of the season.

“It’s MY fault Salah and De Bruyne left Chelsea…” – which Blues legend made this HUGE admission?

Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid, meaning the Merseyside giants will look for a replacement at right-back, while they also want more cover in central defence even if Van Dijk stays, according to Football Insider.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be disappointed that the club seem to have begun plans on replacing Alexander-Arnold, as it seems there’s really not much hope of persuading the England international to stay and sign a new contract.

Who could Liverpool sign at centre-back and right-back?

Liverpool will no doubt be linked with numerous big names in the weeks and months ahead, so we’ll have to see who ends up being the priority.

CaughtOffside have previously been told about Liverpool looking at Jeremie Frimpong for the right-back role, and that would make sense to help Arne Slot recover from losing such an important player.

Frimpong has been a world class performer for Bayer Leverkusen and it will surely be a challenge for them to keep hold of him for much longer.

That could benefit LFC, as it’s hard to imagine anyone better suited to taking on the considerable task of taking over from Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool have also been linked with some big names in central defence, such as Chelsea’s Levi Colwill and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.

That’s according to Rousing the Kop, who also report that Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio could be another name to watch.
