The travel agency AAA expects almost 8 million people to travel by air this holiday season, setting a new record for the number of air travelers this time of year. That means there’s a chance your luggage could get lost amongst a sea of cargo. But a new AirTag feature in iOS 18.2 could help you easily find your misplaced luggage.Â

Apple released iOS 18.2 on Dec. 11, more than a month after the tech giant released iOS 18.1. The latest update brings some new Apple Intelligence features, including the custom emoji creator Genmoji, to people with an iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max or a device from the iPhone 16 lineup. The update also lets everyone share the location of lost AirTags with others — including airline workers with Delta, United Airlines and Air Canada. That way you have a greater chance of finding your lost item.
Here’s how to share your AirTag location with others to help you find your lost items.
How to share your AirTag location with others
1. Update your iPhone to iOS 18.2.
2. Open the Find My app.
3. Tap Items across the bottom of your screen.
4. Tap the lost AirTag.
5. Tap Share Item Location under Lost AirTag.
This will create a temporary webpage with a shareable link that you can send to airline workers and others to help find your lost item. However, these links expire after seven days, so you’re racing against the clock.Â
While this feature doesn’t guarantee you’ll always find your lost item, it does increase your chances of finding it. Because this feature relies on other Apple devices to help locate your lost item, it can be easier to find them in busy areas with more people, like airports, compared to rural areas or areas with fewer people.
