Manchester City have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
The club has completed a deal worth £29.6 million for the promising young talent, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Reis, a right-footed central defender, has made 22 appearances for Palmeiras and has represented Brazil at the Under-17 level.
“This is a dream come true, since I was a young kid I’ve always dreamt with an opportunity just like this one and play for a club as big as City,” said Reis.
“The magnitude of Manchester City, its history and its structure. When the door knocked and it was Manchester City, I knew there wasn’t anywhere else to go.”

“I’m a very eager athlete, with a big will to win.
“So you can all be sure I will leave and give everything on the pitch.
“I’ve got a lot of desire and determination and I’m a player who loves a challenge, good headers and passes.
“City likes to play with a lot of possession, I also like to play that way.
“City has shown that confidence in me when they’ve decided to sign me and that gives me a lot of confidence.”
City’s Premier League title defence has been blown off course by injury issues this term, particularly in defence.
The club has already signed Uzbekistani defender Abdukodir Khusanov this window and are reportedly pursuing a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush before the transfer window closes.
