Miles Teller might be headed to … Nazareth?
The 37-year-old actor recently addressed rumors that he was set to play Jesus Christ in an upcoming Martin Scorsese project. And, alas, Teller will not be portraying the religious figure.
“Dude, when I read that, I was calling my agent, like, ‘Did Marty Scorsese … has this script gotten lost in the shuffle or something,’” Teller told Variety during The Gorge red carpet on Wednesday, February 12. “That’s a tough one. Playing Jesus?”
Teller shrugged it off, but made it seem like he’d be open to the idea.
“Have you met with Jesus?” the actor quipped. “I’m like, ‘There have been times in my life, for sure.’ A little come to Jesus moment.”
But, no, he has not met with legendary director Scorsese, 82, about any possible son-of-God role. (It was announced on Tuesday, February 11, that Teller was set to play Italian cyclist and WWII hero Gino Bartali in an upcoming biopic.)
“I think that’s just one of those things that got put out there and I have no idea how or why,” Teller added. “I think pretty much any actor, if Marty Scorsese offers you something you say, ‘Yes, and I’ll figure it out.’ No, I haven’t gotten the call for that one.”

Teller walked The Gorge red carpet in Los Angeles on Wednesday alongside wife Keleigh Teller, who stunned in a gold gown. The Top Gun: Maverick star also posed alongside his costar Anya Taylor-Joy.
Teller’s movie premiere came days after he was in New Orleans, celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Teller, a longtime Eagles fan, confirmed during Wednesday’s red carpet that he partied with the NFL players following the Sunday, February 9 blowout.
“I was there at the game. And then, afterwards, I was with a bunch of the players and stuff. It was exciting,” he gushed to People. “They were very hyped.”
Teller also commented on the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Chiefs during an interview with Fox Sports on Sunday.
“What a beating. Every aspect of the game,” he said. “The team just kept getting stronger as the season went on. Just no stress.”
The actor said he was “absolutely” headed to an afterparty with the team.
“I’ve been in New Orleans for, like, four days — about two days too long,” he added. “I got a little juice in the tank, baby. Let’s go.”
