The 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has seen plenty of on-field drama. On Day 2, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon added to the tension with a sly comment to India’s KL Rahul.
Nathan Lyon Taunts KL Rahul
Just as KL Rahul walked out to bat, a quick jab from Australian spinner Nathan Lyon kept things on the edge. The veteran bowler asked, “What did you do wrong to bat one down?”
This came after Rahul was dropped down the order after Rohit Sharma returned to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Despite the jibe, Rahul kept his cool and focused on his game, showing maturity in the face of the banter.

Rahul chose to ignore Lyon’s comment and focused on his batting. But his time at the crease was short-lived. Just before tea, Australian captain Pat Cummins bowled a beauty that moved away from Rahul, beat his edge and hit the stumps. Rahul walked back after contributing to India’s total, and gave credit to Cummins’ delivery.
India’s Batting Struggles Continue
This follows the verbal spat between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas on Day 1. As Kohli went past Konstas, their shoulders brushed and there was a verbal exchange. The MCG crowd booed Kohli and he asked them to boo louder and the atmosphere got more intense.
Moving ahead, India’s batting continued to struggle as Rohit Sharma’s poor form was evident yet again. In the 6th over he tried to pull a short ball from Cummins but mistimed it and got caught by Scott Boland at mid-wicket. This was the 7th time Cummins has got Sharma’s wicket in Test cricket.
At the end of 26th over India were struggling badly after Australia’s 474. By the time of writing, India are 82/2 in 26 overs with Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease.
