PCB hammers BCCI as hybrid model acceptance backfires on India

India National Cricket Team have paid the price of forcing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to accept the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. As per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that neither India nor Pakistan will be touring each other’s country till 2027.

While Pakistan won’t be affected much by this, as India haven’t traveled to Pakistan for a very long time, the BCCI would face a massive blow. Since India vs Pakistan is a big-ticket clash, Pakistan not travelling to India for ICC events surely would be a loss factor for them.

International Cricket Council (ICC) will be making a separate formal statement on this and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The reports claimed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be making a separate formal statement on this and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The announcements will be made on December 7th following the meeting of the ICC was postponed. The meeting originally was slated to take place on Thursday (5th December).

It is learned that be it Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments or ICC tournaments, both India and Pakistan will not be touring each other till 2027. This means that both the arch-rivals will be playing tournaments in the Hybrid model till the time the ongoing media rights cycle ends.

India set to host few crucial tournaments till 2027

This comes as a massive blow to the India National Cricket Team and the BCCI, as they are set to host a few crucial tournaments till 2027. They will be hosting the Women’s World Cup and Asia Cup next year and will also be hosting the 2026 T20 World Cup in their backyard.

This would mean a massive loss for the BCCI as well as the broadcasters as Pakistan will not be playing their matches in India. However, after the ongoing cycle, things might change but given the political tensions, things don’t look great either related to the future of India vs Pakistan games.

India not touring Pakistan and Pakistan not coming to India means that the ICC has accepted the demands of the PCB

The reports of India not touring Pakistan and Pakistan not coming to India means that ICC has accepted the demands of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for accepting the hybrid model for Champions Trophy.

The governing body of Pakistan has categorically mentioned that if the global body wants to play the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in hybrid model, then the rest of the tournaments will be played in the same way.

Also, they demanded a tri-series involving them, India, and a third country at a neutral venue, most likely UAE. But ICC and the BCCI don’t seem to be okay with the idea, and the proposal is all set to be rejected during the meeting.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to be played next year. This will be the first time that the tournament will be played after 2017. The schedule of the event most likely will be announced on 7th December after the ICC meeting.
