West Ham United battled back to earn a well-deserved 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
A perfect start for Villa saw the hosts ahead after eight minutes. A smart one-two with Ollie Watkins sent Jacob Ramsey charging through on goal and the midfielder made no mistake with a smooth strike into the bottom corner. Morgan Rogers had one ruled out for offside almost immediately after.
West Ham should have equalised in a flurry of chances early in the second half, but they deservedly levelled things up with 70 minutes on the clock as Emerson arrived unmarked at the back post to head home a cross from Edson Alvarez.
Of the two sides, it was West Ham who looked most likely to go on and win it, but a fatigued Villa outfit managed to cling on for a share of the spoils.
