Prince William escorted his and wife Princess Kate Middleton’s three children to her annual “Together at Christmas” carol service on Friday, December 6.
William, 42, was spotted arriving at London’s Westminster Abbey, wearing a dapper navy suit with a burgundy tie and twinning with sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6. William and Kate’s only daughter, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, coordinated with her father and siblings with a maroon coatdress and navy tights underneath.
William and the kids were on hand to support Kate, also 42, who organized the church service to shine a spotlight on individuals across the U.K. who demonstrated extraordinary kindness, empathy and support in their communities.
Kate also wore red for the occasion, stepping out in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coatdress that featured a large black bow. The ensemble was reminiscent of William’s mother Princess Diana’s blazer from Catherine Walker that she had worn in 1984. (Diana died in a fatal car accident in 1997 when she was 36.)
Other members of the royal family stepped out as well, including William’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall.
Ahead of the service, Kate revealed that she wrote letters to all attendees.
“Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year,” Kate wrote. “It is a time for celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness — so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”
The princess concluded, “Love is the light that can shine bright, even in our darkest times. We all have something we can offer one another. Gentle words or a receptive ear, an arm around an exhausted shoulder, or silently being by someone’s side.”
Kate, William and the children have been navigating a challenging 2024. In March, Kate announced that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and underwent chemotherapy. She completed her treatment in September.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” Kate said in a statement at the time. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
She added, “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted.”
William’s father, King Charles III, has also been battling an unknown type of cancer this year.
