Rosie O’Donnell’s Daughter Chelsea Faces Legal Trouble Amid Drug Arrests
Chelsea O’Donnell, the 27-year-old daughter of Rosie O’Donnell, has been arrested for the third time in two months, with her latest mugshot revealing a troubled picture. Chelsea remains behind bars following her arrest on November 18, where she faced multiple charges, including felony possession of methamphetamine, resisting an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Details of the Arrest
According to police reports obtained by In Touch, Chelsea was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by the Niagara Police Department in Wisconsin. Officers, aware she was out on bond, searched her and found a “clear smoking device” with methamphetamine residue.
The report detailed Chelsea resisting arrest, stating, “I grabbed Chelsea’s left arm and felt that her arm was tensed up. Based on my training and experience, I know this to be resistive tension.” Once handcuffed and placed in the squad car, Chelsea was taken to jail, where a strip search uncovered a prescription bottle in her vagina containing meth, Hydrocodone, and two additional types of pills.
Chelsea reportedly told officers she was working to get off drugs and was planning to start an outpatient program the following week. Her bond was set at $7,500 on November 25, and as of her December 2 court appearance, she remains in custody.
Previous Legal Issues
This arrest marks the latest in a string of legal troubles for Chelsea. On September 10, police responded to a call from her residence, where they discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and her 11-month-old son Atlas in a home described by officers as uninhabitable. Photos showed rotten food, dirty dishes, soiled diapers, and razor blades scattered throughout the house.
Chelsea was arrested on charges of drug possession and child neglect but pleaded not guilty. She was released on bond days later. Just a month later, on October 11, she was arrested again for meth possession after allegedly attempting to throw a pipe into a river during a traffic stop. She was released on bond in early November with conditions prohibiting drug or alcohol use.
Rosie O’Donnell Speaks Out
In light of Chelsea’s recent legal troubles, Rosie O’Donnell released a statement addressing her daughter’s struggles with addiction. “Sadly, this is not new for our family — Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease,” the statement read.
Chelsea, who was adopted by Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter as a baby, is a mother of four children. She shares three children—Skylar Rose, Riley, and Avery Lynn — with her ex-partner Jacob Bourassa. Her youngest, Atlas, was born in October 2023 with her current boyfriend, Jacob Nelund.
Impact on Custody
Following Chelsea’s first arrest in September, her ex Jacob Bourassa petitioned the court to restrict her visitation rights. The two reached an agreement granting Chelsea supervised visits with her children, but her subsequent arrests may complicate that arrangement.
As Chelsea continues to face legal battles, her family remains hopeful for her recovery and the well-being of her children. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges of addiction and its ripple effects on loved ones.
