Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Defense Lawyer Who Represented Osama Bin Laden Abruptly Quits!
One of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense attorneys has stepped away from the embattled music mogul’s criminal sex-trafficking case, according to new court filings.
Anthony Ricco filed a motion Thursday to withdraw as one of the six defense attorneys representing the Bad Boy Records founder. While he did not provide a detailed explanation, Ricco stated that he could no longer “effectively serve as counsel” for Combs.
Judge Approval Required for Withdrawal
Ricco’s resignation will not be official until a judge grants his request. In his affidavit submitted to Manhattan federal court, Ricco emphasized that “under no circumstances” could he continue representing Combs.
“It is respectfully but regrettably requested that the court grant the relief requested,” he wrote. Ricco added that his decision followed discussions with Combs’ lead counsel, Marc Agnifilo.
Although Ricco did not disclose the exact reasons behind his departure, he cited attorney-client privilege as a factor for keeping his affidavit brief. However, he assured the judge that there were “sufficient reasons,” for his request.
Trial Timeline Remains Intact
Ricco emphasized that his departure would not impact the trial schedule, which remains set for May 5. Combs will continue to be represented by five other attorneys.
Combs, 54, has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of forcing women into drug-induced sex acts. The disgraced producer has been in custody without bail since his arrest in September.
Legal Troubles Mount for Combs
If convicted on the top charge, Combs faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and could receive a life sentence.
Beyond the criminal case, Combs is also the subject of at least 40 civil lawsuits from men and women who claim he drugged and sexually assaulted or raped them. He has denied all allegations.
His legal team declined to comment on the latest development, and Ricco did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
