Shakur Stevenson Demands Fight, Slams Gervonta Davis’ ‘Goofy’ Claims And Conditions

Shakur Stevenson fired back at Gervonta Davis on X, calling him “Goofy,” and ordering him like a boss to “Make the fight happen.

Cashing Out?

Tank roasted Shakur on Thursday, telling a room full of media that Stevenson’s promoters are “tired” of him because he’s “Boring”, and are looking to “cash him out.” That’s why they’re calling him out and pressing so hard to make the fight happen. They know they got a lemon and have to unload before the public discovers the truth.

If Shakur’s promoters do want to dump him, they need to increase his marketability enough for Tank to want to fight him. Unfortunately, Stevenson doesn’t have a gazillion followers on social media like Ryan Garcia to make him worthwhile for Gervonta to fight. So, the only other way of making Shakur look like 24k gold is to put him in with top fighters in a sink or swim way.

WBC lightweight champion Shakur (23-0, 11 KOs) didn’t have much to come back with other than to tell Tank to shut his yap and to fight him already. That was like he was admitting that what Davis had said was the truth, but wanted him to give him the fight anyway. Shakur’s sense of entitlement is everything that’s wrong with the sport. Fighters don’t want to work for the big fights. They expect handouts.

Tank’s Terms

Gervonta said he won’t fight Stevenson unless he can prove his worth by fighting WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis. He’s not falling for the ‘He’s my brother bit’ line that Shakur is using. He sees that as fake. If Shakur wants to share the ring with royalty, he’s got to do what King Tank says. Now go fight your brother, Keyshawn; whoever emerges as the winner will have the chance to share the ring with him.

“Shut that goofy s*** up and make the fight happen,” said Shakur Stevenson on X, reacting to Gervonta Davis saying he only wants to fight because he heard him talking about retiring soon.

The Truth Revealed?

“They tired of his a**. No one wants to keep watching that boring s***,” said Gervonta Davis about Shakur’s management. “‘Let me hurry up and cash him out.’ That’s basically what they want to do. That’s why they keep screaming my name because they hear I say I’m retiring. What skills? He was getting hit the other night,” said Tank, refuting that Shakur had shown skills in his fight against Josh Padley.
