“Smell The Desperation!” Ryan Garcia Fires Back At Haney’s Rematch Demand

Ryan Garcia posted his reaction on X to being ambushed by Bill and Devin Haney at the Ring Awards in London last Saturday night. The Haney’s confronted Garcia as he was leaving, and Bill barked, “You’re ducking.”

“You can smell the desperation,” said Ryan on X about the Haneys.

It’s clear that Bill & Devin are utterly desperate to make the rematch with Garcia because it’s the biggest payday available for Dev, and he needs to avenge the embarrassing beatdown he suffered from Kingry last April in front of a packed Barclays Center Arena in Brooklyn, New York.

The alternatives for Haney are not so good if he can’t get the rematch with Ryan. Turki Al-Shiekh will want Devin to fight someone with talent, and he could crumble if the guy has power. A loss for Haney would permanently ruin his chances of a rematch with Garcia, and you got to wonder how Turki would view him afterward. He might wear out his welcome with another loss.

Garcia said that Bill and Devin must drop their lawsuit against him for any chance of negotiating a fight. Thus far, they have not done this. So, it’s unclear why the Haneys continue to discuss viewing the rematch with Ryan as a “priority” in 2025.

Garcia says it’s not just the lawsuit that stands in the way of a rematch with Garcia. They’ll need to agree to a different drug testing agency because Kingry refuses to use VADA. He feels it’s “fishy” that Bill is pushing so hard for that agency, and he’s suspicious.
