Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with no big surprise on Monday (January 13). Temba Bavuma will lead the Proteas team, which includes 10 players from the 2023 ODI World Cup squad.
South Africa has picked a formidable 15-member squad with a perfect mix of experienced players and young talent for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9. However, India’s matches will be held in Dubai, UAE.
Temba Bavuma to lead South Africa’s strong squad in ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The Proteas men have picked two all-rounders, two spin specialists, and four pacers, while the rest are the explosive batters in their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where they will open their campaign against Afghanistan on February 21 in Karachi.
Cricket South Africa said in an official statement: “White-ball head coach Rob Walter has today announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played in Pakistan from 19 February to 09 March. One-Day International captain Temba Bavuma will lead the full-strength squad, which includes 10 players who competed in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, where South Africa reached the semi-finals.”

Among the selected players is Tony De Zorzi, who is a reliable left-handed batter with the experience of 11 Tests and 12 ODIs. His solid performances have earned him a spot in the Proteas squad for the upcoming prestigious tournament.
Rassie van der Dussen, an experienced right-handed batter who has amassed an impressive 2464 runs in 68 ODIs so far, further bolsters their batting line-up. Rassie van der Dussen is known for his consistency and is expected to play a crucial role in the middle order.
Cricket South Africa picks perfect blend of experience and young talent for CT 2025
The seasoned all-rounder Aiden Markram will provide his versatility with both bat and ball, while Heinrich Klaasen’s aggressive batting makes him a key asset for the South African team. Adding firepower to the batting lineup is the most experienced batter, David Miller.
The left-handed hard hitter has 4490 runs in 174 ODIs to his name so far, and his ability to finish games under pressure would be key for the Proteas side in the eight-nation tournament. Willem Mulder, a promising all-rounder who has featured in 20 ODIs, also gets the opportunity to show his skills on the grand stage.

Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs are set to provide depth to the Proteas batting with their explosive batting despite being new to the ODI world. Speaking about South Africa’s pace attack, Kagiso Rabada will lead the charge and will be assisted by Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, and Marco Jansen, a left-arm fast bowler with 41 wickets in 26 ODIs, and Kagiso Rabada.
Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi will handle the spin department.
