Spurs want trophy for Son plus team news

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says the club want to ensure captain Son Heung-min wins a trophy with the club after he extended his stay until the summer of 2026.

Spurs face Liverpool in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday – the last trophy they lifted back in 2008.

Son has been a runner-up in the EFL Cup and the Champions League during his stay with Tottenham and Postecoglou wants him to go that one step further.

He said: “The main ambition is to make sure he finishes his career here with some silverware.”

Spurs remain riddled with injuries but should have defender Radu Dragusin available after he came off at half-time against Newcastle last weekend.

Dragusin – the club’s only fit full-time centre-back – is available to play after illness as Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies are all still out.

New goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is registered and could play, with the club still hopeful of adding to their depleted numbers this month.

Postecoglou said: “We’re still trying to help the squad and players. We will have roughly 10 first-team players missing.

“That’s not easy so we need to still try to help the playing group.”

Spurs have Rodrigo Bentancur back from suspension but James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are banned.

Wingers Richarlison and Mikey Moore are back in training with youngster Moore possibly available. Goalkeeper Fraser Forster is back in training after illness but Guglielmo Vicario is a long-term miss.

Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert round out the missing names for Spurs.
